DID YOU KNOW THAT THE VINES SLEEP AND WAKE UP?

Bud swelling or otherwise ..the awakening of the vines!

Spring is here for good and we have reached the moment for the new vegetative cycle of the vine, and the countdown to this year’s harvest begins!

The first stage of the cycle begins with the growth of the buds and ends with the beginning of flowering.

What we observe:
 
a) Τhe bleeding where the vines are previously pruned begins (the vine teardrop’s, marks the beginning of the growing season)! It is the juice that contains all the storage substances that the plant saved before entering its dormancy and which will help it begin its upward course, from the roots to its above-ground part, due to the increase in temperature.

 
b) The buds swell and the budburst process begins! The “scales” covering the bud are separated and the cotton covering the young shoot is revealed, the small leaves of which a few days later will grow, creating the new vegetative cone that will develop into a new shoot.
