New Podcast Episode: Harvest 2025 – What We Learned from an Exceptional Yet Challenging Year.
In the latest episode of the “Wine, simply put” series by LiFO, the hosts Iro Koliakoudaki DipWSET and Panagiotis Orfanidis welcome back Spyros Zoumpoulis, who shares his impressions from this year’s harvest across Greece and Cyprus – a vintage of outstanding quality, yet challenging for growers.
June 2024 brought high temperatures, a mild winter, and limited rainfall, creating difficulties in fruit set and leading to low yields for the 2025 vintage. Despite these conditions, the grapes ripened beautifully and evenly, resulting in wines of depth, purity, and character.
Also joining the discussion are three Greek oenologists working in different corners of the world, comparing experiences and highlighting the global challenge of climate change, which forces producers to face the new reality:
Thanos Fakorelis – Bordeaux
Dimitris Bazas – Burgundy
Panos Zoumpoulis – Mendoza
Together, they explore how shifting weather patterns are shaping harvests and how crucial it has become for viticulture to adapt to new climatic conditions.
