Facing Climate Change
Since we are at the forefront of this evolution, we examine with intense reflection the changes that greatly affect also our vineyards.
Our role is to help nature recover and thrive through these challenges, because although it is resilient it still needs support.
Here’s how we’re working on this self-healing journey with regards to heat, drought, fire and hail:
Restoration: After extreme weather conditions for example hail, we use biodynamic remedies such as valerian and chamomile to soothe and restore natural balance.
Treatment: Torn and damaged vines are vulnerable to fungi. We use copper as a natural protection, ensuring that the plant can heal without the risk of infection.
Rejuvenation: With less rain in winter we now need to water in February or early spring to help the vines regain strength – even those that never needed water. We do the same after fires that burn or dehydrate the leaves, to restore vitality.
Enhancement: Organic biostimulants help the vine to photosynthesize and grow. By using them, we keep the plant active and healthy even in difficult conditions.
Shielding: Kaolin and zeolite are the necessary natural protection from the intense sun, allowing the vine to breathe while protecting it from overheating.
Of course, our goal is not just to help the vine survive, but to be fully functional in the face of a changing climate.
By supporting nature’s natural healing processes, we ensure healthy growth today while working towards a sustainable tomorrow.
